Dinner Nap

We caught Mariah sleeping during her dinner the other day. I guess we had a long day and didn't get our nap....definitely! As you can see, dinner was peanut butter and honey sandwich....with a spoon. Our little one eats....differently then most. But we love her all the more for it. I am so happy to be her mom!

Three years have gone by so fast and a lot has happened since her birth but I feel I have grown because of all of it.

Thank you, God for all you have given me. Help me to be thankful everyday and to trust you when it seems things are out of control.

Tricia :)

Little Black Dress

Today is my birthday and I got myself a little black dress. I have not bought myself a dress since....I have no idea!!!

I just have to say, I feel so pretty in this dress. Is that wrong to feel that way? Is that selfish? I have had quite the year and a half and have not felt "myself" for awhile. When I put on the dress, with all the accessories of course, and see the look on my husbands face....well, it kind of wipes away all the bad feelings from this last year and a half. I hope I am not sounding selfish and "all about me" like but I feel like a million dollars in that dress.

Do you ever just have those human times when you feel "unlovely, not pretty?" Times when you wish things were different. I don't need people to come tell me I am pretty, I just sometimes feel not myself. Is this making sense?

I was talking to Jeremy tonight about all this. I told him that all of you (meaning anyone who sees me) see just me...with a little bit of a eyelid droop. I see double vision half the time and the drooping eyelid that makes it hard to see. I know to all of you I am me. But when I look out into the world I see an imperfect view and so sometimes I feel like that is who I am...an unperfect, not pretty view. I know all these things are just stupid and not justifiable but I am human. The reality is that God made me the way He did and that is enough. I am so thankful for what I have experienced this past year and a half because it has changed me in so many ways. Those feelings of "imperfection" are human and are there because of our sinful nature. But God wants to perfect us to be like Him in all areas. So I guess I need to look to Him when I feel "not pretty."

I share these things with you not to get pity, not to have someone tell me anything...just to share. This blog, from my point of view, is a place to come and share my feelings openly without being "told how to feel" if that makes sense.

I welcome your comments on my thoughts but please bare in mind I am not looking for your opinion on how to feel. So if I do not agree with you...don't get upset, just realize that I am only sharing my heart. I may not agree with you and you may not agree with me.

Thanks for listening. I can't wait to wear my little black dress and feel like the beautiful wife and person my husband deserves!

Go out and wear your little black dress...or whatever makes you feel pretty (or handsome) and then remember to thank God for making you the way He did....imperfections and all!!

Happy Birthday My Little Girl

Today you turned 3. I set this post to show up right when you entered the world three years ago...7:58 am, May 16, 2005. I will never forget how I felt when they pulled you out (you were a c-section) and showed you to me. You were a perfect baby...I am your mother so that makes me a bit biased (ask what that means later)...but you were so beautiful.

Your daddy and I are so happy we get to celebrate all our birthdays together. Daddy's was yesterday, your's today, and mine tomorrow. What fun getting to have a big party, all together!! We love you so much and can't wait to see what new things you learn this year.

You learned so much this year. You can count to 10, in English and Spanish. You know all your letters and love to sing the alphabet song. You are learning to use the potty like Mommy and Daddy. So much more that I don't have room to name it all. We are so proud of you!

I am so happy that God let me be your Mommy. I am really excited that you pray with me before bed each night and actually pray yourself. I can't wait for the day that you understand and ask Jesus to save you from your sins. That will be the best day ever!!!

I love you my little baby. Don't grow us too fast!

Mommy :)

New Family Member...I'm an Aunt!

My nephew, Gabriel, was born a week ago. Mariah is so excited about her new cousin. She got to hold him for the first time today and was SOOOO loving it. She is quite serious about "her baby" and talks about him constantly.

Of course I am loving being an aunt too. Can't wait to be holding my own baby again. Just have to get through this next surgery and then hopefully we can try to add to our little family.

My "baby" will be 3 tomorrow. I can not believe how fast it has gone. I remember when she was Gabriel's size. Now she is running around, talking up a storm, and making me smile every day. Wouldn't change a thing!!

I am thankful.....

I saw this on a friends blog (Ruth Stiles) and just thought it was worthy of repeat on mine.

I AM THANKFUL:

*FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

*FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

*FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.

*FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM EMPLOYED .

*FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

*FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

*FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE

*FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

*FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..

*FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

*FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.

*FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH
WHO SINGS OFF KEY! BECAUSE IT MEANS
I CAN HEAR.

*FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

*FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN
CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

*FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

Great News!!

Most people would not say that having surgery is good news but for me it means the end of a long road! I am scheduled to have my eyelids lifted on June 25. I can not wait!!!

Hopefully this surgery will be the last forever, or at least until the next baby (if I can't convince the doctors that I want natural childbirth). It has been a long year and a half but I know that God has gotten the glory and I have grown so much!

Thank you to everyone who has been praying and don't stop!! Hope you have a great week!

Tricia :)

P.S. If you are a bit confused as to why all the surgery, go here

New Birthday Du

So I decided that I would get my haircut with some of my birthday money! What do you think? Jeremy is ok with it so that is good. He would love my hair to be long I think but this is SO MUCH easier to do in the morning. Well, just thought I would share my birthday fun with all of you!

Have a great weekend!
